Michelle Houchin, President of Adkisson Search, brings over 35 years of healthcare and executive search expertise. Her industry knowledge, coupled with her experience consulting and coaching Boards, has resulted in her adeptness at identifying and placing executives in roles where cultural and professional alignment drive long-term success. Under Michelle’s leadership, Adkisson Search has evolved into a premier national firm, recognized for its commitment to quality, integrity,

Shannon L. McKay PPMC, CMPE
Vice-President
Shannon McKay, is a seasoned executive search consultant with over 20 years of experience. Since
joining Adkisson Search in 2002, she has successfully transitioned from recruiting IT professionals and project managers to specializing in placing executives and healthcare leaders. Shannon approaches every engagement with a strategic, people-first mindset. Her exceptional communication skills and genuine interest in people have been instrumental in building lasting relationships with clients from diverse industries across the country.
Our History
Founded in 2001
Adkisson Search Consultants was founded in 2001 by Billy D. Adkisson, a prominent leader in the healthcare recruitment industry since opening his first physician recruitment firm, James Russell, Inc. in 1983.
Adkisson Search Consultants began as a physician recruitment firm focused on delivering the finest quality physicians in the industry.
Upon a client’s request, CRNAs, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Physical Therapists were added to their recruitment service.
The Next Generation
In 2011, Adkisson Search Consultants was purchased by Michelle S. Houchin and Shannon L. McKay. They have continued to expand the services provided by Adkisson, using their comprehensive search process to focus on other high-impact, challenging-to-fill roles, including:

- Director and Senior-Level roles
- Specialized and Confidential Searches
